I graduated Oakland University with an Integrative Studies Bachelor's degree, with minors in marketing, advertising and psychology.
While pursuing my Bachelor's Degree at Oakland University, I developed a strong connection with the creative field, as well as a growing interest in human motivation. That is why I decided to major in Integrative Studies. What is Integrative Studies? In my opinion, it's the most underrated degree being offered. It's a program designed for people who know exactly what they want to do, but the offered curriculum plans don't quite get people where they are trying to go.
I knew I wanted to enter the advertising world, but the path to get there forked in several directions. I originally decided to major in Marketing, with a minor in advertising. Once I started that path, I realized most of the major focused on business instead of consumer behavior. I then decided to try another path and major in Psychology with a minor in advertising. I enjoyed the classes, but I felt I was missing too much of the marketing aspect. Then, I came across a program called Integrative Studies, and my path made it's final change. Integrative Studies is a program for people who customize their curriculum plan. Instead of taking mostly general filler classes, I got to focus my schedule around courses that would be directly applicable to the job field I had in mind.
My entire degree is built around my minors (advertising, marketing and psychology) to provide a more well-rounded experience.
